The Great Reef Census is a groundbreaking citizen science effort to survey the Great Barrier Reef and protect this iconic symbol of nature.
Goal
Whether you’re on the Reef or the other side of the world, you can take part in this important conservation initiative helping to analyse tens of thousands of images, mapping vast amounts of the Reef and identifying the areas in most need of help.
Solution
In February 2023 Citizens of the Great Barrier Reef engaged Rethink Everything to develop a national advertising campaign that would go on to become the world’s largest online citizens science survey ever. With over 100,000 analyses completed from 700 locations worldwide across 66 countries achieving 4 times its intended target.
